United Way Kickoff-September 10, 2013
Our annual joint meeting with Hazleton Kiwanis again kicked off the annual United Way of Greater Hazleton Campaign. Our own United Way President Pat Ward announced that the theme of the campaign is “Imagine.” He went on to explain how important United Way funding is to the organization's 26 member agencies and the health and human services that they provide to the community. Then the fun began, when the annual 'horse race” was staged between the two clubs. Unfortunately Kiwanis trotted away with the top honors for the second second consecutive year. The Kiwanis winner was Dr. Bob Seamon. Our very own Gary Lagana gave it his all but ended up as the 'place” horse. United Way staffer and Kiwanis president-elect Rich Saullo presided at the meeting.
