On behalf of President Alan, with great sadness we have learned of the passing of Pastor Tom Cvammen, a member of our club since 1999. For many years, Pastor Tom inspired us with his annual Thanksgiving message in late November. Friends may call Sunday, June 15 from 6-8pm at Christ Lutheran Church in Conyngham…The service will be held Monday, June 16 at 11 am, also at Christ Lutheran Church. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jo and the Cvammen family.

Rev. Thomas Cvammen, 73, of Conyngham, PA, passed away peacefully at St. Luke Pavilion in Hazleton, PA, on June 8, 2025.Born in Bethlehem, PA, he was the beloved husband of Joelyn (Witman) Cvammen for 47 years. He is survived by his sister Susan (Cvammen) Fragano and her husband Steve of Shamokin Dam, PA; his daughter Hannah (Cvammen) Bobrowski and her husband Pete, and their children Julia, Addison, and Parker, all of Drums, PA; and his daughter Sarah (Cvammen) Chow and her husband Addy of New York, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Hilda (Hoffman) Cvammen. Rev. Cvammen was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Criminology and earned a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. He faithfully served as pastor at St. Luke’s Old Williams in Williams Township (1977–1981), Trinity Lutheran in West Hazleton (1981–2017), and part-time at St. Luke’s in Freeland, PA.His commitment to his community extended beyond the pulpit, with active involvement in the Hazleton Rotary, Hazleton Ministerium, Girl Scout Board of the Penns Woods Council, Hazleton United Way, and the Quin Foundation. In his free time, Rev. Cvammen enjoyed camping, mountain biking, sport shooting, and fishing. His devotion to faith, family, and service will be remembered by all who knew him.A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 467 Main St. Conyngham, PA. Reverend Cindy White will preside. Burial will take place immediately following the service at St. John’s Lutheran and UCC cemetery in St Johns.Friends and family are invited to gather at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church Sunday evening June 15th for a viewing period from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
