“Many people can’t find good jobs in the Greater Hazleton Area, while many employees can’t find people with the technical skills that they need,” said John Madden, Scholarship Chairman. “Many of our students avoid technical courses of study and thereby pass up good career opportunities.”

“Many of those that do pursue these fields of study leave the area when they have completed their education, unaware of career opportunities in the Greater Hazleton Area.  The results have been missed opportunities for students and a shortage of technically skilled workers for employers. We hope this scholarship will help alleviate that problem.”
